The secret is not self-discipline. I’m talking about what drives self-discipline. Just like a car can’t start without an empty gasoline tank. Like fire can’t burn without oxygen. Self-discipline can’t begin (and also won’t last) when there’s no hunger for success.
In truth, the key to self-discipline is the hunger, the insatiable hunger for success. A predator isn’t motivated to look for prey without FIRST being hungry for it. In fact, without this hunger, a predator won’t care about locating, chasing and killing its prey, for without this hunger a predator poses no threat AT ALL.
The key takeaway here is:
For you to be a man of discipline, you need to be like a predator, a predator with an unquenchable hunger, hungry for the intoxicating blood of success. Be a predator, a complete beast who won’t rest until he feasts on the flesh of success, because he knows without it, he would starve to death.
And mind you, always aim not to be more disciplined. Rather aim to be obsessed, completely obsessed with your craft.
